Recently, China Shipbuilding International Co., Ltd., together with China Shipbuilding Industry and Trade Co., Ltd. and the international charity organization Mercy Ships International, signed an effective contract for the construction of a hospital ship.It is understood that the ship is mainly donated by the MSC Foundation, and after completion and delivery, it will be operated by Mercy Ships. It will mainly be used to provide medical services to developing countries such as Africa and support their medical professionals in developing healthcare systems.

The hospital ship has a total length of 174.1 meters, a hull width of 28.6 meters, a structural draft of 6.4 meters, a service speed of 12 knots, a passenger capacity of 500, and 950 people in port. This ship integrates passenger living, hospital medical care, and school education functions, and is a high specification passenger ship with international standard hospitals. The hospital section is a key functional area on board, mainly composed of laboratories, general clinics, ophthalmology clinics, dental clinics, CT scanning rooms, rehabilitation rooms, operating rooms, pharmacies, ICU wards, inpatient departments, nursing stations, training centers, etc. Other functional cabins include restaurants, cafes, shops, libraries, cinemas, outdoor swimming pools, etc. It can be said that this ship is a fully functional "boat of love" with light and hope.

The 16000TEU container ship built by Guangzhou Shipbuilding International for MSC Group
