Recently, the website of the Shandong Provincial Department of Natural Resources announced the pre-approval site selection opinions for the Liaocheng Civil Airport Construction Project. The project is located in the west of the central city of Liaocheng City, at the junction of Dongchangfu District, Guanxian County, and Shenxian County, and in front of Dongchangfu District in the east. Jintun Village extends to the west and west to Guozhuang Village, Guan County, to the east, to the south to the north of Dasun Village, Dongchangfu District, and to the north of Qianjin Village, Dongchangfu District.

According to the project stability evaluation announcement released by the Liaocheng City Development and Reform Commission in March this year, the Liaocheng Civil Airport project is located in the southwest of Zhengjia Town, Dongchangfu District, Liaocheng City. The site is 26 kilometers away from the center of Liaocheng City and 15 kilometers away from the Liaocheng High-speed Railway Station. kilometers, 4.4 kilometers away from the expressway exit, and covers an area of approximately 2,396 acres.

Liaocheng Airport is positioned as a domestic 4C-level regional airport, undertaking regional air transport and general aviation missions.

The construction scale includes a 2,600-meter runway, 8 Class C aircraft seats, a terminal building of 10,000 square meters, a parking lot of 10,000 square meters, and other supporting projects, with a total investment of approximately 1.57 billion yuan.

It is estimated that in 2030, the passenger throughput will be 800,000, and the cargo and mail throughput will be 5,600 tons, meeting the usage requirements of the B737 series, A320 series and below.

It is reported that the Shandong Provincial People's Government and the military have officially signed a military-land agreement to build a civil transport airport in Liaocheng, Shandong Province.

In January 2023, the Liaocheng City Government issued the "Liaocheng Comprehensive Three-dimensional Transportation Network Plan (2023-2035)", planning a "1+7" airport layout plan, where "1" refers to Liaocheng Civil Airport, and the goal is to "build coverage "Global Aviation System", in which "1" is a transport airport, namely Liaocheng Civil Airport, and "7" represents 7 general airports.

The Liaocheng Civil Airport project has been included in the "National Civil Transport Airport Layout Plan" approved by the State Council and the "China Civil Aviation "14th Five-Year Plan" Development Plan issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

The construction of Liaocheng Airport will help implement national strategies such as ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, enhance the brand influence of Liaocheng as a "National Historical and Cultural City", realize cultural tourism to revitalize the city, improve traffic conditions in the border areas of Hebei, Shandong and Henan provinces, and accelerate construction The Shandong Demonstration Zone, a transportation powerhouse, is of great significance.

The "Shandong Province Comprehensive Three-dimensional Transportation Network Planning Outline (2023-2035)" mentioned that it is necessary to accelerate the construction of hub airports, improve the layout of non-hub airports, and form a "four hubs and twelve branches" transportation airport cluster with clear levels and complete functions. By 2035, Shandong will have 16 transportation airports and "realize city-owned airports."

At present, Shandong has 10 civil airports, although the six cities of Zibo, Tai'an, Liaocheng, Dezhou, Binzhou and Zaozhuang do not yet have civil airports.
